 Composition:

  • **Active Ingredient:**
  • Phytonadione (Vitamin K1) - 10 mg/ml
  • **Excipients:**
  • Benzyl alcohol (as a preservative)
  • Sodium chloride (for isotonicity)
  • Water for injection (q.s. to 1 ml)

#### Dosage:

  • **Adults:**
  • **Prophylaxis of Vitamin K deficiency:** 10 mg to 20 mg administered intramuscularly or intravenously, depending on the clinical situation.
  • **Treatment of anticoagulant overdose (e.g., warfarin):** 1 to 10 mg administered intravenously, with repeat doses as necessary based on INR levels.
  • **Pediatrics:**
  • **Newborns (for prevention of Vitamin K deficiency bleeding):** 1 mg intramuscularly at birth, with a possible additional dose at 1 week of age if indicated.
  • **Infants and children:** Dosage should be determined by a healthcare professional based on the specific clinical scenario.

#### Indications:

  • **Prophylaxis and Treatment of Vitamin K Deficiency:**
  • Used in patients with malabsorption syndromes, liver disease, or those on long-term antibiotic therapy that may disrupt gut flora.
  • **Management of Anticoagulant Overdose:**
  • Administered in cases of excessive anticoagulation due to warfarin or other vitamin K antagonists.
  • **Prevention of Hemorrhagic Disease of the Newborn:**
  • Administered to newborns to prevent Vitamin K deficiency bleeding, a serious condition that can lead to bleeding in the brain and other organs.
  • **Other Indications:**
  • May be used in certain cases of coagulopathy or as directed by a healthcare provider.
