Sumatriptan (Sumatriptan Succinate) 50mg Tablets
Sumatriptan is a medication commonly used to treat migraines and cluster headaches. It belongs to a class of drugs known as triptans, which work by narrowing blood vessels in the brain to reduce pain and inflammation associated with these types of headaches.
Indication:
Sumatriptan is indicated for the acute treatment of migraine attacks with or without aura in adults. It is also used for the acute treatment of cluster headaches in adults.
Dosage:
The typical dosage of sumatriptan for migraine treatment is 25 mg, 50 mg, or 100 mg taken orally at the onset of a migraine headache. If the migraine symptoms return after an initial dose, a second dose may be taken after at least 2 hours, not exceeding a total dose of 200 mg in a 24-hour period.
For cluster headache treatment, the recommended dosage of sumatriptan is 6 mg subcutaneously (injected under the skin) at the onset of a cluster headache. If needed, a second dose may be administered after at least 1 hour, not exceeding a total dose of 12 mg in a 24-hour period.
